The Secret of The Gnomes in German Village

Long before German Village was restored to its charming glory, a small group of gnomes quietly took up residence among the brick streets and handcrafted ironwork — drawn by the care its people took to preserve something beautiful. Hidden among the paths and gardens, they've been watching over the neighborhood ever since… and if you find them, you can become part of their story.

The German Village Garten Club is commemorating 60 years in existence with a public art installation.

This fun, unique project celebrates the greater German Village’s European heritage and gardens, tourism, local businesses, and a good bit of whimsy. The wood carved gnomes, standing three to five feet tall, are all painted and/or embellished by local artists and are located throughout the German Village neighborhood along the historic brick streets.

The vision of the German Village Garten Club is to cultivate community one garden at a time, and the mission of the German Village Garten Club is celebrating horticulture, community beautification, and gardening in our urban, historic neighborhood.
